A private golf course is usually owned by the membership, has membership restrictions, charges dues and assessments for its upkeep. A public course can be privately owned but caters to the public which pays fees to the club for each round played. It too, may offer memberships. A municipal course is one which is owned by a city, town, county or municipality which charges daily fees, offers memberships to town residents at reduced rates and whose upkeep is the responsibility of the municipality.
What is the difference between private, public, and municipal golf courses?
