What sort of meals would you expect there to be in a golf club restaurant?

by admin on August 29, 2010

Just wondering what food/meals you would be able to get in a typical golf club restaurant

What country.

In Scotland they tend to be fairly basic and cheap at lunch-time. Not all clubs have a restaurant for evening meals. Those that do vary tremendously in quality.

As you might expect the posher the Club the better the meal. Some are better than commercial restaurants – some are worse.

I worked in one before. there were 3 different dining areas. One was hot dogs & grilled ham & cheese, one was salads & slightly better fare, then there was fine dining- steaks, lobster. Sorry we are not very helpful. You can prolly look them up online- they should have at least a banquet menu- that should give you an idea.

We did a lot of different things. Everything from burgers, steaks, cold/hot sandwiches, fancy salads, soups and wraps for lunch. Dinner we had items like sauteed scallops, lobster and rack of lamb, all the way down to burgers and chicken tenders. This was a private gold club though. Unless invited by a member you werent allowed to dine in.

The public golf course around here serves just about the same things for lunch and dinner…tenders, mozz sticks, wraps, sandwiches, steaks, etc.

you will usually find a huge all day breakfast. There will normally be a variety of foods from scampi and chips to a roast dinner. They will also have sandwiches and baguettes there.
Edit: this is in England.
