Can someone explain the perks of joining a golf club?

I am thinking about joining a golf club, but I don’t know what the benefits are. For example, do you still pay greens fees? And what about use of the driving range, etc. If any club members out there can say what the pay for and about how much I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

The perks of joining a private club are you can play whenever you want to. Depending on the club, you either have full privileges meaning you pay a monthly fee and everything at the club is at your disposal. Some clubs have this thing called a junior membership and you have to pay for certain things like the driving range. Most people join private clubs for the social aspect and business connections. Typically the pace of play isn’t an issue at a private club like it is at most public courses. You won’t have to deal with hooligans on the course using the carts as dune buggies and other nonsense. I’d do it if I could afford to.

The whole point of joining a private course is to be able to play anytime you want for as long as you want. You pay a monthly fee, no matter how much you played, the fee stays the same. At most courses, they require you to pay an extra fee for the driving range, but it isn’t a lot. Check out some of your local course websites and see their rates.

Every club is different, and all have different rules. Some you pay for greens fees but at a reduced rate, and others you don’t. Some you pay for cart use, and others you don’t. Some you don’t pay for you greens fee as it’s included in your membership dues, but pay for your cart. Some give free range use, others don’t. Some allow you to carry a "running tab" at the proshop, and the grillroom, others don’t. It all comes down to how much your initiation fee and monthly dues are at any particular club. Only way to know for sure what the gig is at your club is to ask them, not here.
