i am a freshman at THE Ohio State University, majoring in Professional Golf Management. its a 4 year bachelors program designed to train us to be head golf pros and to get to be members of the PGA. but i dont want to be a head golf pro. i want to specialize in golf club repair and design. does anyone knowledgeable know where i could get a job doing this after i graduate and do you know if it would be a difficult area to get into? please tell any experience you have backing your answer. thanks.

Here’s a link that has 29 golf repair businesses in OH. Whether they’re hiring or not is outside my ability to find out. I do know that it’s a tough business to get into. A specialty shop has difficulty competing against the D1ck’s Sporting Goods of the world… even though you’ll be getting more as far as customer service goes from the specialty shop. The economy is rough still, so that’s going to work against you, as well.

I suggest joining either the Professional Clubmaker’s Society, the International Clubmaker’s Guild, or the PGA (not just the Tour and teachers). It costs $$$, but they could help you with job placement.

Trying to study for a final. Please HELP!
.175 kg club head going at 45 m/s hits a golf ball weighing .05 kg. The ball flys off at 65 m/s. I know the answer is 3.2 kg m/s but I need to know how to get to the answer. Thanks!

precollision: 0.175kg * 45m/s = 7.875 kg·m/s
postcollision: 0.175kg * v + 0.05kg * 65m/s = 7.875 kg·m/s
0.175kg * v + 3.25 kg·m/s = 7.875 kg·m/s
v = 26.4 m/s
So the initial momentum of the golf BALL post-collision is 3.25 kg·m/s
Then the initial momentum of the golf CLUB post-collision is 4.625 kg·m/s

What is the difference between a private golf course and a public one?

November 5, 2011

Price and selectivity. Most Golf Courses charge fees, but the public courses charge less. Private clubs however can restrict membership to whomever they want. You aren’t automatically guaranteed entry just because you can pay. addthis_url = ‘http%3A%2F%2FGolfPlaces.org%2Fprivate-golf-course%2Fwhat-is-the-difference-between-a-private-golf-course-and-a-public-one’; addthis_title = ‘What+is+the+difference+between+a+private+golf+course+and+a+public+one%3F’; addthis_pub = ”; Technorati Tags: Golf Courses, Private Clubs, Private Golf Course, Selectivity
